A joint study between the Institut Pasteur, the CNRS and Inserm has revealed the highly specific profile of the gut bacterial population in a mouse model used to study depression. When the bacterial population is transferred to healthy mice, they exhibit behaviors associated with depression within a few days.

Bacteria that grow inside cells depend on their host cell for access to nutrients. Scientists from the Cellular Biology of Microbial Infection Unit at the Institut Pasteur have discovered that these bacteria exploit the regulation pathways in the host to adapt its metabolism to their own needs and facilitate their proliferation.

Les bactéries à développement intracellulaire dépendent de leur cellule-hôte pour avoir accès aux nutriments. Des chercheurs de l’unité Biologie cellulaire de l’infection microbienne à l’Institut Pasteur ont découvert que ces bactéries exploitent des voies de contrôle du métabolisme de l'hôte pour l’adapter à leurs propres besoins et favoriser ainsi leur prolifération.
