Countering the bacteria responsible for leptospirosis by attacking the "shield" they make to protect themselves: this is the strategy that Roman Thibeaux, a young researcher at the Institut Pasteur de Nouvelle-Calédonie is trying to develop. Born on the island, he left the South Pacific region for a decade before coming back better armed.

Launched in 2014, the MediLabSecure project is about to be completed. A global conference organized at the Institut Pasteur in Paris on 25-27^th June 2018, will gather more than 100 delegates from the 19 participant countries. An occasion to take stock of the project achievements and engage a global reflexion on the possible next step.

Organisée à l’Institut Pasteur du 25 au 27 juin prochain, une conférence globale réunira plus de 100 représentants des 19 pays bénéficiaires du projet. Une occasion de dresser le bilan des réalisations du projet et d’engager une réflexion globale sur les prochaines étapes éventuelles.

In official relation with WHO since 2016, the Pasteur International Network Association, represented by Nadia Khelef, presented 3 statements during the 71st World Health Assembly held in Geneva from 21 to 26 May 2018.

Our colleague and friend François Rouet passed away on June 13, 2018 at the age of 53 following a long illness. The Institut Pasteur International Network wishes to pay tribute to this passionate scientist and public health man who has dedicated his career to improving the care of patients in the most disadvantaged countries.

Entrée en relation officielle avec l’OMS en 2016, l’Association Pasteur International Network, représentée par Nadia Khelef, a soutenu 3 déclarations au cours de la 71^e Assemblée Mondiale de la santé qui s’est tenue à Genève du 21 au 26 mai 2018.

Notre collègue et ami, François Rouet s’est éteint le 13 juin 2018 à l’âge de 53 ans des suites d’une longue maladie. Le Réseau international des instituts Pasteur souhaite à rendre hommage à ce scientifique et homme de santé publique passionné qui a dédié sa carrière à l’amélioration de la prise en charge des patients dans les pays les plus défavorisés.

It is with great sadness and deep emotion that we learned of the death on Saturday 09 June in Marseille of Pr Ogobara Doumbo.

Born in Mali in the Dogon ethnic group, Professor Doumbo held two medical theses, one in France and the other one in Mali. A specialist in parasitology, he was recognized worldwide for his contribution to advances in research in the field of malaria epidemiology and pathogenesis.
