Friday, November 24, the Institut Pasteur, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Fondation Mérieux signed in Beijing a cooperation agreement to create a 4-year research group. Located at the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai - Chinese Academy of Sciences, this new group will benefit from a yearly financial support of 150,000 euros from the three institutions to conduct innovative research in the field of infectious tropical or neglected diseases in connection with the P4 laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
A call for proposal will be launched soon in order to identify a young researcher to lead this group, on the basis of the quality of its scientific project. The research is planned to start in 2018. This will be the 6th 4-year group created within the Institut Pasteur International Network since 2013.

The signing of this agreement was made in the framework of the 4th session of the Franco-Chinese high-level dialogue on human exchanges that was held on November 24 in Beijing.
Dedicated in particular to the themes of creativity and innovation, this session was chaired by Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian, French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs and Ms. Liu Yandong, Vice-Premier of the People’s Republic of China. The two political leaders acknowledged in their opening speech the quality of the cooperation between the Institut Pasteur and the Chinese research institutions.
