The Institut Pasteur, its historical partner in Brazil, Fiocruz and the University of São Paulo, the largest in the Latin American continent, have signed in Rio de Janeiro a tripartite cooperation agreement on 8th June, 2015. This agreement, between these three actors in Research and International Public Health, defines the main directions of scientific cooperation and prefigures the basis of the project to establish an Institut Pasteur in Brazil.
The ceremony, held in parallel to Fiocruz-Pasteur Symposium, gathered Christian Bréchot, President of the Institut Pasteur, Paulo Gadelha, President of Fiocruz, Marco Antonio Zago, President of the University of São Paulo, Brice Roquefeuil, Consul General of France and Gustavo Tutuca, Rio de Janeiro Science and Technology Secretary of State.
In addition to the signature of the cooperation agreement, the three-day mission of Christian Bréchot in Brazil gave him the opportunity to meet the major partners of the Institut Pasteur such as the Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation (FAPERJ, Rio de Janeiro), the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq, São Paulo) and São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).
