Place of scientific excellence and training, the Institut Pasteur is proud to host over 350 doctoral students from more than 50 different nationalities on its campus. Located in the heart of Paris, the Institut Pasteur offers a cutting-edge research environment, ideal for both academic and personal growth, within a dynamic and collaborative international community.
On November 8th, the Institut Pasteur welcomed 90 new doctoral students during the Orientation Day organized by the PhD Student Office. This event allowed students to meet each other, become familiar with life at the Institut Pasteur, and start their journey in a friendly setting, joining the large Pasteurian community.
The day began with a fun interactive quiz, Monica Sala, director of the Education Department, officially opened the presentations. Then, Olivier Cassar, head of the PhD Student Office, introduced the office’s services, followed by Cécile Markarian, who explained the welcome and administrative support program, and Deshmukh Gopaul, who presented the training offerings and the "Training Passport." After a second quiz, Karin Eigelmeier explained the mentorship program and the MyTP tool, while Cecilia Patitucci introduced international doctoral programs, and doctoral representatives Jan Stenkiewicz-Witeska and Jeremy Chantrel shared their roles and initiatives for students.
After the traditional class photo, the session continued with presentations focusing on well-being and the resources available to doctoral students. Occupational health services were introduced, as well as the CARE-DEI program for diversity and inclusion. Students then learned about cultural and social initiatives available on campus, before exploring booths from internal associations and services that will enrich their academic and personal experiences:
To commemorate the day, a calligrapher created a large canvas live, capturing the energy and key moments of the event.
We wish all new doctoral students an enriching experience, full of discoveries and academic success. Welcome to the Pasteurian community!
