Bien qu’il existe un vaccin efficace, la rage demeure présente dans plus de 150 pays dans le monde. Les pays du Moyen-Orient et d’Asie Centrale sont particulièrement touchés par cette maladie virale, notamment l’Iran où la rage est endémique.

Friday, November 24, the Institut Pasteur, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Fondation Mérieux signed in Beijing a cooperation agreement to create a 4-year research group. Located at the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai - Chinese Academy of Sciences, this new group will benefit from a yearly financial support of 150,000 euros from the three institutions to conduct innovative research in the field of infectious tropical or neglected diseases in connection with the P4 laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Le vendredi 24 novembre, l’Institut Pasteur, l’Académie Chinoise des Sciences et la Fondation Mérieux ont signé à Pékin un accord de coopération portant sur la création d’un groupe de recherche à 4 ans.

Last October, the Institut Pasteur International Network has officially become a member of the Global Research collaboration for infectious diseases preparedness research alliance (GloPID-R).

GloPID-R is a network comprising 27 research and research funding organizations on the global scale as well as WHO. The aim of this alliance is to ensure that research capacity and capabilities are in place to support the rapid initiation of scientific research in case of an infectious disease outbreak.

En octobre dernier, le Réseau international des instituts Pasteur est devenu membre officiel de l’alliance scientifique GloPID-R - Global Research collaboration for infectious diseases preparedness.

GloPID-R est un réseau comprenant 27 organisations de recherche et de financement de la recherche à l'échelle mondiale ainsi que l'OMS. Le but de cette alliance est de s'assurer que les capacités et les ressources en matière scientifique sont en place pour soutenir l'initiation rapide de la recherche en cas de flambée épidémique infectieuse.

It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the sudden demise of Dr. Vu Thi Que Huong.

Huong was a senior virologist and Scientific Director of the Institut Pasteur in Ho Chi Minh City. She formerly held the position of Head of the department of Microbiology and Immunology in the same institute.

C’est avec une très vive émotion que nous avons appris la mort soudaine de notre collègue et amie, le Dr Vu Thi Que Huong.

Virologue confirmée, Huong était Directrice scientifique de l’Institut Pasteur d’Ho Chi Minh Ville. Elle occupait précedemment le poste de chef du Département de Microbiologie et d’Immunologie dans le même institut.

According to WHO estimates, in 2015, there were 212 million cases of malaria and 429,000 deaths worldwide. Sub-Saharan Africa alone accounts for 90% of cases and 92% of deaths. In this region, the parasite Plasmodium falciparum, responsible for the majority of deaths, is the most common/frequent. Since 2010, integrated control measures (insecticide-treated mosquito nets, insecticide sprays, etc.) have significantly reduced the burden of malaria among populations at risk and the mortality rate has fallen by 29% worldwide.
