Startup creation

Startup creation plays a major role in the downstream development of technologies stemming from academic research. With the creation of its first spin-off twenty years ago, the Institut Pasteur was a forerunner in supporting the creation and development of biotech companies.

To date, the Institut Pasteur has participated in the creation and/or development of 30 startups harnessing technologies and know-how developed by its research teams; 20 are still active and 6 are stock market-listed.

Missions of the Startup Team

Within the Department of Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnership (DARRI), the Startup Team coordinates the process of creating startups based on Pasteurian discoveries. The Startup Team supports scientists at various stages of this process: entrepreneurship awareness and training, identification of potential for business creation, conseil, the search for funding, and potential external partners for the maturation of the technological project and its incubation.

Support from the Institut Pasteur carries on throughout the startups' developments, via their integration into a broad ecosystem: the incubators Paris Biotech Santé, Agoranov, Génopole, public (BPI France, etc.) and private (investment funds) investors, and the organization of specific events and meetings for alumni.
